Laura Stirling

DipBCNH, IFMCP (mBANT, CNHC, mIFM)

Nutritional Therapist
BANT registered Nutritionist

Growing up, Laura had a fascination with how things worked, and this fascination was amplified with the understanding of different pathways of the human body, and subsequently, in the ability to assess their function – or dysfunction - through laboratory testing.

After an illness in the early 2000s, Laura made dietary and lifestyle changes to successfully restore her health, and began to understand the value of food, lifestyle choices and the power of nutritional therapy.  She went on to study nutrition at BCNH, the UK College of Nutrition & Health, graduated with a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy in 2008.  Her passion for knowledge has never dwindled and she became an IFM Certified Practitioner in 2018.

Laura has spent the past 12 years working for specialist diagnostic laboratories, and in doing so, has had the pleasure of learning from some of the leaders of functional medicine, who have guided her both in clinical practice and with laboratory testing.

A thirst for knowledge means that she tries to keep up-to-date with lab testing developments and the understanding of biochemistry, and then convey these in a practical manner to practitioners.

She is a valued speaker at nutritional colleges, universities and conferences, and enjoys educating practitioners either in person, on the telephone or on webinars.  Her passion for education and expanding the understanding of the clinical utility and validity of testing in practice has lead her here: to be a founder member of the AFMMP.

In practice, her passions include digestive health and female hormones, cardiometabolic disease and mood disorders… a relatively broad spectrum!  A spectrum that is common in functional medicine, where arguably these are intrinsically linked.
