IFMCP, MSc, BSc, ION Dip.

Alex has 13 years experience in clinical practice, and 5 years experience as a tutor, clinical supervisor, and lecturer.

Alex ’s journey in to the health industry, like many, was as a result of his own health issues. Having been a keen athlete at school, Alex started to get plagued by injury in his teenage years. It was as a result of the endless sessions of physiotherapy, massage therapy, osteopathy (you name it!), that Alex’s fascination with the human body began.

At 18, Alex was diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome, accompanied by chronic fatigue and terrible acne. Rather than being on the sports field with his peers, he was often in bed napping, or, trying to rehabilitate his body.

This continued until he was 23 years old when he stumbled across Patrick Holford’s ‘Optimal Digestion’ book. Following it word for word, alongside some gut-centred hypnotherapy, Alex quickly started to feel like he had never felt before. Not only did his digestive symptoms improve, but his sleep, his aches and pains, his mood, and his skin, all improved as well. Even lower back pain related to a specific rugby tackle improved 100%.

There was simply no turning back after this experience.

Initially certifying as a personal trainer immediately out of university, after Alex’s experience with nutritional therapy and mind-body medicine, he went on to study nutritional therapy at the Institute of Optimum Nutrition (ION). After three years he graduated from ION and joined the Centre Of Nutritional Education and Lifestyle Management (CNELM) where he earned a 1st class degree in Nutritional Therapy, and then a MSc in Personalised Nutrition

Alex completed his MSc dissertation on glucocorticoid resistance in chronic fatigue syndrome and as a result developed a keen interest in the HPA-axis and supporting clients with the condition.

During his MSc studies, Alex also certified with The Institute For Functional Medicine, becoming an IFMCP.

Which brings us up to the current day.

Alex now has 13 years experience supporting a wide range of clients, from members of the public to elite athletes. Away from his 1-2-1 work Alex has been a tutor at ION, a clinical supervisor at ION and CNELM, and has lectured at various institutions including ION, Raworth College, The Paragon College, and CNELM.
